Project Description

Electric mobility has become a strategic axis for public administrations committed to sustainability and the energy transition. In this context, the Consell Insular de Formentera trusted Etecnic360 for the development of the Development Plan for the island’s public EV charging station network, with the goal of promoting the adoption of electric vehicles in the medium and long term.

This strategic project reinforces the island’s commitment to a more sustainable mobility and positions Formentera as a territory prepared to face the challenges of the energy transition through a planned, efficient, and future-oriented public charging infrastructure.

Etecnic360, a leader in electric mobility solutions, has once again demonstrated its ability to manage complex projects and deliver exceptional results.

A clear example of this is the project carried out in the communal parking facility of the Diagonal 22@ building in Barcelona.

Identifying needs, regulations, and grants

The Formentera Island Council, composed of the council members of the Formentera City Council, acts as a single entity with its own full legal personality, assuming all of the City Council’s administrative powers and responsibilities. This institutional uniqueness makes it the key player in the planning and implementation of public infrastructure on the island.

Faced with the need to promote electric vehicles and provide the territory with a coherent and efficient public charging network, the Consell adopted a strategic approach based on technical, economic, and environmental criteria, aligned with current regulations and supported by public subsidy programs.

Project Description

The project began with a specialized consulting phase aimed at defining a comprehensive strategy for the deployment of public charging infrastructure during the 2024–2026 period. The goal was to provide the Island Council with a planning tool that would enable it to make informed decisions and ensure consistency between planning, implementation, and future management.

During this phase, Etecnic360 carried out:

  • The analysis of the current state of existing charging infrastructures in Formentera.

  • The definition of an infrastructure plan aligned with the real needs of the territory.

  • The budgeting of the investments required for the rollout of the network.

  • The environmental impact assessment of the proposed investments.

  • The definition of the minimum criteria for centralized and efficient management of the public network.

Based on the defined plan, Etecnic360 executed the project and installed the public charging infrastructure, which materialized in:

  • 11 semi-fast chargers, distributed across 6 strategic locations on the island.

  • 1 fast charger, intended to strengthen public charging capacity and vehicle turnover.

The charging points, installed in 2025, form an accessible and efficient public network, prepared for future growth and designed to serve both residents and visitors, facilitating the use of electric vehicles on the island.

programa-moves

MOVES III Program

The project has been subsidized through the MOVES III program. Etecnic360 supported the Consell Insular de Formentera throughout the documentation and application process for the grants, ensuring compliance with technical and administrative requirements and facilitating access to the necessary funding for the deployment of the public charging infrastructure.

Experience, approachability, and commitment to a comprehensive electric mobility project

The charging points are integrated into the MELIB network, which features a white-label application powered by the EVcharge platform. This solution enables a customized app with corporate branding, while providing users with an advanced, intuitive, and reliable experience.

Through the app, users can view charger status in real time, search for them by location or charging requirements, navigate to their location, and initiate charging and payment in just two clicks.

The management platform for operators incorporates all features of EVcharge Manager under the MELIB brand, enabling centralized management, operational control, and monitoring of the public network. Thanks to domain hierarchy, chargers can be differentiated by owner, allowing independent management of the charging points assigned to each.

Etecnic specializes in providing end-to-end solutions for public administrations, ranging from needs assessments and strategic planning to drafting, executing, and managing charging infrastructure projects, alongside cloud-based energy and operational management solutions.

This project consolidates the Consell Insular de Formentera as an administration committed to the energy transition and positions Etecnic360 as a leading technology partner in the development of sustainable, efficient, and innovative public charging infrastructure.
