What does the Smart Pricing module consist of?

Smart Pricing is the solution that enables charging station owners to generate dynamic and intelligent (SMART) tariffs in real time, considering multiple factors such as charger occupancy, grid power costs, solar generation, and the state of charge of the station’s batteries.

Thanks to its algorithm, the system recommends customized promotions that can be validated and subsequently published for users to access through the EVcharge app.

From the user’s perspective, they benefit from finding excellent charging prices in real time, allowing them to optimize their charging expenses away from home. From the owner’s perspective, it boosts the utilization of their charging points, consolidating the business model while enhancing customer loyalty strategies through advanced technologies that analyze local consumption patterns and habits.

Evolution and commitment

In 2023, through the MOVES Singulares II Program, managed by IDAE (Institute for the Diversification and Saving of Energy) with a 100-million-euro budget, Etecnic was one of the 90 candidates selected to develop its initiative. We installed up to three charging stations (semi-fast, fast, and ultrafast), a 50 kW solar photovoltaic plant, and a 160 kWh storage battery system at our facilities. The goal was to analyze and optimize operational costs to understand user preferences. By simulating a real-world service station, we successfully improved operator profitability and provided end-users with more affordable prices, driving better adoption of electric vehicles. In 2024, leveraging the insights from the previous project and with the support of ACCIÓ within its open and disruptive innovation framework, we decided to launch the Smart Pricing project. This completely disruptive initiative aims to validate the tool’s impact at the service stations of our partner Weiderauto Electric in Tarragona, which feature nine ultrafast chargers and a 360 kW solar plant. The objective of the project is to study user consumption habits to evaluate the impact of these automated recommendations in the local area.

This study will allow us to continuously refine the functionality by incorporating new variables such as traffic, geolocation, user behavior, consumer trends toward temporary offers, and other promotional criteria.
