Jorge Ríos, CEO of Etecnic, represents the electric mobility technology sector in the new strategic assembly driven by the Generalitat to accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable mobility.
The Generalitat de Catalunya has established the Public-Private Roundtable for the Electric Vehicle, a strategic coordination forum that gathers key players in the electric mobility ecosystem: public administrations, energy companies, vehicle and charging point manufacturers, mobility operators, parking management firms, and installers.
Representing Etecnic, Jorge Ríos, CEO of the company, attended this first meeting, which was presided over by the Minister of Business, Miquel Sàmper, and also attended by companies such as Endesa, Iberdrola, Seat, Circutor, Fastned, Saba, Tesla Chargers, Silence, Atlante, among others.
A strategic commitment to accelerate change
The Roundtable was established as a governance tool to monitor the Electric Vehicle Promotion Plan 2025-2030, which structures 20 measures divided into five strategic axes, with ambitious targets:
-
Triple EV adoption to reach the European average.
-
Double the charging infrastructure, prioritizing fast and ultrafast points.
-
Achieve 90% electrification within the Generalitat’s own fleet.
-
Drive 180,000 new registrations of electrified vehicles.
-
Create 9,000 new public charging points.
-
Save 470,000 tons of CO₂ emissions.
Additionally, the plan contemplates strengthening the Catalan industrial value chain, focusing specifically on battery production, electronic components, and smart mobility solutions, consolidating Catalonia as an innovation hub.
Jorge Ríos’ vision: a focus on trust and infrastructure
In the words of Jorge Ríos, following his participation in the inaugural session:
“From Etecnic, we extend our full support to this space for dialogue and joint work. We celebrate this initiative, which our sector had been calling for over quite some time.“
Ríos also put emphasis on the urgent need to address the structural bottlenecks hindering the deployment of charging infrastructure:
“We must place our FOCUS on building citizen trust and urgently tackling the structural delays that slow down deployment, such as grid connection timelines and permit processing.”
At Etecnic, as a leading name in technology, installation, and charging infrastructure management, we will continue to actively collaborate in this new space to boost electric mobility across the region.
An opportunity to lead from Catalonia
The Minister of Business and Labor, Miquel Sàmper, highlighted:
“This public-private Roundtable is the precise complement that the Electric Vehicle Promotion Plan needs, aligning the Government with the industry to achieve the true impact we are aiming for.”
He also highlighted the necessity to foster alliances between manufacturers, suppliers, and tech companies to drive innovation, foreign investment attraction, and the creation of new startups.
