At Etecnic, we have the privilege of contributing to the development of the first electric charging flexibility project in Spain, a pioneering initiative led by Galp, with the collaboration of Minsait (Indra Group), OMIE, and with the support of the Institute for the Diversification and Saving of Energy (IDAE) through the MOVES Proyectos Singulares II program, funded by the European Union’s Recovery and Resilience Facility.

An innovative infrastructure in strategic locations

The project has deployed 29 charging stations of different types and power capacities, including innovative solutions such as second-life batteries and ultrafast chargers with integrated storage, located in Andalusia, Catalonia, and Madrid.

This infrastructure not only expands the charging network but also validates a completely digitalized and connected model within the electrical grid, capable of offering demand flexibility services and integrating directly into local flexibility markets. All of this unlocks new business opportunities and optimizes energy management in a smart and efficient way.

Etecnic’s role: digitalization and intelligent management

From Etecnic, we have been responsible for the design and implementation of the charging infrastructure’s operation system, working on:

  • Integration and aggregation of energy demand through communication criteria and protocols.
  • Integration modules for operational management and real-time monitoring.
  • Optimization algorithms for the optimal regulation of power and the visualization of statistics.
  • Innovative strategies to involve end-users through incentives and an enhanced charging experience.

This advanced digitalization ensures the control, monitoring, and energy optimization of the entire infrastructure, linking directly with electricity market platforms to deliver flexibility services, generating economic benefits for both the facilities and end-users.

A benchmark project for electric mobility in Spain

At Etecnic, we highlight the uniqueness of this initiative, boosted thanks to the MOVES Singulares program, which marks a turning point for electric mobility in Spain.

The project distinguishes itself by:

  • End-to-end digitalization of the entire charging infrastructure, guaranteeing connected and efficient management.

  • Active user participation, placing them at the center of the model through innovative experiences and incentives.

  • A direct connection to the power system, which allows flexibility services to be offered in local markets and enables better utilization of energy resources.

This project demonstrates the technical and operational viability of new business models, accelerating the transition towards cleaner, more efficient, and sustainable mobility in Spain.
