The electrification of office parking spaces is a key strategic factor in continuing the rollout of electric mobility and promoting the transition to electric vehicles. Comprehensive solutions for infrastructure electrification have become essential.

A clear example of this is the project carried out in the communal parking lot of the Diagonal 22@ building in Barcelona.
Identifying needs, regulations, and grants
The Diagonal 22@ building, which has a communal parking lot with 167 spaces, required an electrification solution to support the transition to electric vehicles for employees and users. The main challenge was to install the charging stations without disrupting the parking lot’s operations, ensuring it remained operational throughout the entire installation process.
In addition, the installation had to comply with the regulatory requirements of ITC SP 147:2024 (a regulation promoted by the Barcelona Fire Department), which governs safety in charging facilities, and meet the deadlines established by the MOVES III grant program.

Project description
Consulting: Etecnic360 conducted a detailed analysis of the client’s needs and designed a customized solution for the parking garage, including the technical documentation.
Pre-installation for all 167 parking spaces: The infrastructure was prepared to support additional charging stations in the future, ensuring the system’s scalability.
Installation of 79 charging stations: In the first phase of the project, 79 7.4-kW charging stations were installed. These stations were set to 4 kW in accordance with current regulations (ITC SP 147:2024, Barcelona Fire Department regulations)
EVcharge Technology: The EVcharge management platform was implemented, which allows for the management of charging stations, user control, charging monitoring, and billing for the energy supplied.
- Hierarchical system: allows payments to be centralized at the owning company level.
- Personal RFID Card Access System: In this project for private-use chargers, the decision was made to activate the chargers using RFID cards that are unique to each charger and parking space.
24/7 Maintenance and Remote Support: The solution provided included long-term maintenance and a remote support service available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, ensuring the continuous operation of the charging stations.
MOVES III Program
The project was carried out within a budget of €431,040.75, with a 70% grant obtained through the MOVES III program, which allowed for a significant reduction in costs for the client. In addition, the project was completed without interrupting the parking garage’s operations, which was a priority for both Etecnic360 and the client from the outset.
The charging system is designed not only to meet current needs, but also to be scalable in the future, allowing the number of charging points to be increased as demand grows. Smart power management also ensures that the infrastructure is used to its full potential, optimizing available resources.
