Like many rural or semi-urban municipalities, Berrioplano faces several sustainability challenges: ensuring equitable access to services, reducing polluting emissions, and moving towards cleaner mobility without compromising the accessibility of its citizens.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this context, the Berrioplano City Council has led an <\/span><b>exemplary project for the deployment of public charging infrastructure for electric vehicles<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, becoming a <\/span><b>regional benchmark<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in charging points per inhabitant. In 2024, the municipality reached the figure of <\/span><b>12 charging points distributed across 10 councils<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with active public management and an adapted tariff model that includes direct subsidies for residents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thanks to the integration with the platform <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/navarraterecarga.com\/users\/sign_in\"><b>Navarra Te Recarga<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, powered by <a href=\"http:\/\/evcharge.net\">EVcharge<\/a> technology, citizens can easily locate, reserve, and pay for their charges. This infrastructure has normalized the use of electric vehicles in the municipality, supporting an accessible, sustainable, and well-managed transition.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Key results of the year 2024:<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1,339 charging sessions completed<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">21,533 kWh supplied<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">18,095 kg of CO\u2082 avoided<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More than 90 electric vehicles registered in the municipality<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These figures reflect Berrioplano&#8217;s real commitment to environmental improvement and to mobility adapted to local needs.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>We interview F\u00e9lix Remirez, Mayor of Berrioplano<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/etecnic.bisiestodeveloper.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/FELIX-REMIREZ-HOYOS-2-scaled-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>How did the project start and why did you decide to bet on electric mobility?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The idea was born during the 2015-2019 term, when we had to replace a municipal van. We opted for an electric model and that&#8217;s when we saw the potential. For it to make sense, we had to build a public charging network that would serve the different councils, and that&#8217;s exactly what we did.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What management model did you follow for the deployment of the network?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We manage the network directly from the City Council. We bet on a decentralized approach: installing charging points in all councils with a significant population, and applying <\/span><b>a competitive tariff<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Additionally, we offer <\/span><b>bonuses for residents<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which has been key to boosting the use of electric vehicles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What role has technology played in this process?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has been fundamental. The <\/span><b>Navarra Te Recarga<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> platform allows us to have total control over the charging points, view real-time statistics, and offer an excellent user experience. Residents register easily, charge, and pay directly from their mobile phones. It&#8217;s simple and it works.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What impact has the network had on the municipality?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The network has greatly eased the transition to electric vehicles. Today we already have <\/span><b>more than 90 electric cars registered<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and we expect this to keep growing. It has also helped position Berrioplano as a municipality that acts with environmental responsibility.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Micro-towns, key to the transition with sustainable mobility<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The case of Berrioplano proves that small municipalities, with political will, efficient management, and the right technological support, can <\/span><b>lead the transition towards sustainable mobility<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
